Jon is a self taught artist and maker who paints mixed media abstracts. He uses oil paint, pencil, charcoal, dry pastel, oil pastel, pigment powder, oil sticks and cold wax medium. He paints on paper and on board. Layers of paint are applied with scrapers, pallette knives and rollers. The surface is drawn on, scraped off, scratched into and dripped with solvent to reveal interesting textures and hidden layers.
Jon works intuitively and spontaneously, without a plan or design. He enjoys the materials and the process of making art and experimenting. He makes all his own frames and mounts.
