"Most of my work develops out of snapshots or stills grabbed from video. Casual and opportunistic, these sources help me find images that offer a near-neutral, 'documentary realism' (camera vérité - things as they were). Of most interest are those where ordinary subjects, chance elements, ephemeral or unintended details suggest something deeper: a revealing insight, aspect of character, narrative, mystery, or reference.
"I use digital and on the canvas processes to explore and respond to the raw imagery and to subjects found in this way - to visual qualities, content and suggested ideas. I paint in oils."
