Most of Mark's artwork is related in some way to people, places, or things that are close to him and have a personal connection. He works mainly in acrylics, watercolour, and gouache, and prefers a bold, colourful style – often using dark outlines and explicit shapes. He looks back to an exhibition of the Scottish Colourists at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts as a turning point in his artistic journey. Mark is in the final stages of studying for a painting degree with the Open University.
