"Moving to Keyingham in 1973 is when my artistic life blossomed forth. Exploring then painting the landscapes was the beginning of taking my work seriously. From this I formed an art group, had several local exhibitions, shared a studio with Steven Dews and worked as the school gardener in order to pay for my art materials. This continued until I was accepted onto the BA Hons course where for a while my work became quite political. Eventually came the self-portraits and collages allowing me through my art to tell my story."
